Niacinamide

Niacinamide

Here are the fundamentals you need to know about Niacinamide!

Type of Ingredient:

A form of vitamin B3 which is commonly found in cleansers and serums.

Main Benefits:

It is an effective ingredient in managing acne, reducing the production of sebum and is great for sorting out issues with hyperpigmentation and uneven skin tone. Other benefits include reducing the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines.

Who should use it?

If you have oily or combination skin, or you’re dealing with acne all the time then this is the ingredient for you!  And don’t worry, if you are someone who wants to find an effective solution for hyperpigmentation or uneven skin tone then niacinamide has got you sorted. Additionally, if you are someone who has preexisting allergies then please be careful when using niacinamide as it has the potential to cause your body to release histamines.

How often can you use it?

Ideally, you should use it twice per day in order to see consistent progression with your skin.

Works well with

Salicylic acid is a really good ingredient that can work wonders with niacinamide. As a BHA (beta-hydroxy acid) it is another effective anti-aging and anti acne ingredient. Together, they have the ability to dissolve any excess oils and sebum produced in the skin.

Don’t use with

Although they are both antioxidants, niacinamide and vitamin C are not compatible. We’re not exactly sure what happened in that relationship but what we do know is that it can cause flushing (redness and tingling or the skin) and just not a cute situation overall, unless formulated together!
